We search for a way to
make sense out of life, wondering what to do, and yearn
for a call that will take us beyond ourselves.
My work primarily encompasses people and their
expressions, so I may reflect their emotions through my
painting. I work primarily in watercolor, which is an
additional challenge. However, I do work in other medium
such as oil on canvas as you may see as you visit my
website.
Welcome to my site,
ELUSTER'S BIO&
VIDEO
"Uplifting,
inspiring, and educational" are often the words heard
when speaking of Eluster Richardson's art. Born and
raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Eluster began painting
as a child in the third grade. His works have won
numerous awards in Florida and exhibited in the Bethune-Cookman
College fine art gallery in Daytona Beach and the Zora
Neale Hurston Museum in Eatonville, Florida. He was the
visual arts director for Tallahassee's 1998 Harambee
Festival.
Eluster currently maintains a studio in Tallahassee. In
his drawings, and oil and watercolor paintings, he takes
special interest in the depiction of historic
personnages and sites in the North Florida region,
particularly around Tallahassee. Some of Eluster's work
is also exhibited at several fine art galleries.
Eluster is the Artist-in-Residence for the Riley House
Museum and Resource Center of African-American History
and Culture, which is the home of a collection of
historical works by Eluster. These works have been
displayed in several area museums since their
completion. Eluster prefers painting people stating,
"people are such a challenge" and especially enjoys
children as a subject. His daughter Jasmine has been a
source of many paintings. He is adept in oil and
especially pencil but his medium of preference is
watercolor.
